Sports You - be sure you are following your class for all notifications.  This will include any information coming from coaches and/or Booster Club.

Varsity parents will also receive a weekly email from your Varsity Team Rep.  This will include all of the weekly details specific to Varsity - including Team Dinner Location, Dragon Tales details, etc.  If you do not receive this email be sure to reach out to your team rep to be sure your email address is included and correct.  

Team Dinner is held on Thursdays and just for Varsity players.  This allows the team to gather, share a meal together and bond outside of practice and school.

This is a fully parent sponsored and funded event starting at 4:30pm.  Players come straight from school to the location determined by host(s).  Parents can host in a home or other location.  This can be hosted by one or several families together.  It's really fun to get to interact with players outside of the game and make some great memories.

Please contribute to help spread the expense across as many parents as possible.  You do not have to necessarily plan or host (but you won't regret it!) but we do ask that you contribute if possible.  Feeding over 70 players is expensive and shouldn't fall on only a few parents.  To help cover team dinner costs CLICK HERE.

On game days, Varsity players wear their team polos to school.  These can be purchased by using this link.

If purchased before season they will be distributed at Meet the Dragons.  If purchased during the season, parents can pick up on a Thursdays from Polish and Pray or players arrange to pick up from Michelle Carson in her field house office.  

This is a Varsity only event rich in history.  It's a special time for parents to gather on Thursday evenings prior to Friday games to provide team encouragement and build Dragon family bonds. 

Parents are welcome in the Varsity locker room to clean out their player's locker, meet other parents and together pray over the players and coaches. 

Parents MUST get your player's locker combination before coming as no one else can provide this to you.    Parents take out any dirty clothes, leave notes, snacks etc.  SEE NEW RULES ON LOCKER DECORATING, ETC​

Parents can arrive starting at 5:30pm.  Parent Circle is at 6:00pm and parents can stay to finish lockers until 7pm.  

Your son made Varsity and has earned decals for his helmet!  He and a "dude" in his life (Dad, Grandpa, male influence) are invited by Coach to come together as a team to bond over applying their decals to the helmets.  This pre-season event is a privilege for Varsity players only.  Plan to spend about an hour with your player while making memories with the rest of the team.

Once your player is eligible, you can order your coveted letter jacket!  The first opportunity of the year happens at Meet the Dragons.  Company reps are there to fit and help you place your order.  They do take a while to come in so order as soon as you can.  There will be other opportunities but this is the easiest and fastest option. Only those eligible to receive a jacket can place an order.  

During the season players arrive to school on Thursdsays at 7:00am, eat breakfast (provided by Booster Club).  load buses and go to local feeder elementary schools in their jerseys.  They read books to 3rd grade students and sign autographs.  The players and students love this tradition!  This is not every Thursday - only a few designated weeks.  Players are divided up among two schools each week.  To answer a common question, YES - if applicable, players are assigned to the RRISD Elementary school they attended :)

Parents can sign up to meet the players at the schools to help manage, take photos and watch them interact with the kids.

Be on the lookout in your email from your team rep for details on this as it gets closer.

It is highly encouraged (and lots of fun) to join with other Varsity families before the game to line the sidewalk from the gate to the indoor facility where the players come out before games.   We cheer on the team as they come out and head to the Dragon Tunnel before running onto the field.

Bring your cowbells, Dragon Spirit and cheer the players on coaches on!

A benefit of being on Varsity is you don't need to worry about feeding your player on game days.  The Booster Club provides Varsity game day meals.  Players stay after school and eat together before preparing for the game.

Coaches will take up all cell phones in preparation for the game so just know that you won't be able to text them.  They receive a printed itinerary every Friday detailing the expected schedule of events:  team meal, rest time, time to load bus - if away game, etc.

After all HOME games,  the Varsity players go to the student section and sing the alma mater.  After they sing they go along the stands and high five fans.  Stay in the stands after the game to grab a spot to be able to high five the team.  They will then huddle up with coaches after the game.
